Keeping Tabs On Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation
On 2 July, you wrote that the Foc.us v2 has all the functionality of a research device (tDCS, tACS, tPCS, tRNS). What exactly does your statement mean?
Simply that Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation, Transcranial Pulsed Current Stimulation, and Transcranial Random Noise Stimulation are features you don’t find on devices costing thousands of dollars. But if you aren’t aware of the terminology or why you’d want those features, you’re probably better of with the much simpler Thync device. My general advice would be to read a lot before you attempt to ‘change your mind’ with any device.
The Foc.us v2 is a tDCS (i.e., direct current) device.
However, your response implies that the Foc.us is a tDCS, tACS, tPCS, and tRNS device. This is simply not true.
Please go to their website and see their description. It states very clearly that it is a tDCS (and tDCS only) device.

The Thync device is not really a tDCS device and we’re not privy to its inner workings. So it would be difficult to compare the two. You’d buy a Thync in order to (if it worked for you) attain a ‘Calm’ or ‘Energy’ ‘vibe’. Whereas the Foc.us v2 has all the functionality of a research device (tDCS, tACS, tPCS, tRNS) and at a low cost. Does that help?
No, that does not help.
The Thync sells for $299 and Foc.us sells for almost the same price: $298, but your statement says the Foc.us retails “at a low cost,” implying the Thync is more expensive. Not true.
Secondly, I am confused by your description of the Foc.us v2 device, which you state “has all the functionality of a research device (tDCS, tACS, tPCS, tRNS).” This statement is meaningless jargon.
